  • Each swimmer should come dressed for dry land activities, as well as time in pool
    • Bathing suit should be worn under comfortable shorts/shirt
  • Proper footwear for warm up and dry-land activities
    • Athletic shoes suitable for exercises and dry-land activities
    • No crocs, sandals, open-toed shoes, flip-flops, etc.
    • Socks preferred to avoid blisters.

What does your child need to bring to swim practice each day?

  • Goggles
  • Towel
  • Water Bottle
  • Kick-board (optional)

Additional Information regarding the above items:

  • All items should be clearly labeled with your child’s first and last name. We suggest using a waterproof permanent marker.
  • Please apply sunscreen before sending your child to practice.

My child has a birthday coming up, what age-group should they practice with?

  • Please attend the practice session based on the age your swimmer will be on June 1, 2024.

My child is a strong swimmer, can I have him/her swim up with an older age-group?

  • Unless you have received approval from Coach Nate, we ask that ALL SWIMMERS attend the practice group based on their age as of June 1, 2024.
  • As the season progresses, coaches may recommend changes to your child's practice group based on current skill level.  While in most cases this can be accomplished within swimmer's current practice time, coaches may recommend changes to your child's practice group based on current skill levels. No changes will be made without prior discussion and approval of parents, as we know schedule changes can be particularly challenging to those families with multiple swimmers.
  • Again, any changes require pre-approval from Coach Nate.

My child will not be able to attend his/her scheduled practice time, due to a conflict, can I send him/her to a different practice?

  • Unless you have received approval from Coach Nate, we ask that ALL SWIMMERS attend the practice group based on their age as of June 1, 2024.

What is Dryland Practice?

  • The early days of practice each season include dryland activities.  Drylands serve a number of purposes including:
    • Team-building activities/games allowing swimmers to get to know one another.
    • Allows our Coaching staff to earn the trust of our first-year swimmers and swimmers new to CRR the opportunity before entering the water for the first time.
    • The majority of our swimmers are returning to the water for the first time since last summer and benefit from the early practices where swimmers participate in age-appropriate exercises and games.
  • When water temperatures fall below 72 degrees, the entire practice may be spent doing drylands.  They will use the time to do team building, some stretching and age-appropriate cardio type exercises.

How will I know if my child should follow the dryland practice schedule or the regular schedule?

  • Our 6 and Under will have the same practice time regardless of water temperatures. We ask that they come dressed for both in water and dry land activities.
  • Please note that we will ONLY send a communication notifying parents to adhere to the DRYLAND practice times. If you do not receive a notification, we are operating on our normal practice scheduled times.

Does my child need to attend every practice?

  • There is an old saying...

You become what you consistently practice.  So practice consistently what you want to become.

  • Of course we can't make everyone attend every practice - and often they are a result of schedule conflicts - but those that attend practice regularly (along with always giving their best) see the most growth throughout the season.
  • For our first-year and younger swimmers that are still in the early stages of developing the fundamentals of swim strokes, the more consistency and repetition of practice the more progress they will make.

My child swims year-round, does he/she need to attend CRR practice too?

  • We have a large number of year-round swimmers and understand the commitment that comes with it.  We encourage you to follow the advice of your coaches. We do ask that you let us know your practice schedule, so that we don't assume that you aren't coming to practice.
  • We have swimmers every season that would attend practice 5 times a day if we let them. While we admire their passion and commitment, this can greatly increase one's risk of sustaining an injury. Again, please work with Coach Nate and your swimmer's year-round coaches to determine what schedule is best for your child.
  • Please keep us updated about schedule conflicts, so that we are able to maintain a well-balanced swimmer to coach ratio.
