Church Run Rockets (un)update
Wow, Rockets, what strange times we are living through! I hope that this email finds you all well and healthy, but I'm sure a little stir crazy! If you're anything like me, you're dreaming of warm temperatures and time around the pool this summer, and hoping to goodness that we're still able to enjoy those times with our Rockets family.
At this time, I am sorry to say that we have nothing to report about our swim season. As we all are aware, the Commonwealth of Virginia is under a state of emergency due to the health implications of the spread of COVID-19. Gatherings of more than 10 people are currently banned statewide. Our swim team practices and meets would obviously fall under this category. A quick peek at the GRAL (our governing league) website shows no information regarding the current state of affairs.
This is obviously a fluid situation, and while I know most of us are planners and like to get things on our calendars, we just aren't able to provide any of that information at this time. The Board began meeting in January, and were busy making plans for the coming season. We'd planned to have our online registration at the end of April and start practices in mid-May, but have no idea if this will be possible at this point. As we receive guidance from GRAL regarding the future of our season, we will pass that information on to you.
In the meantime, please know that we are thinking about all of you and hoping that you are safe and healthy.
All my best,
Adrienne Burdsall, CRR President
